Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you use RoastMyWork, we collect:

  • Account data: your name, email address, and optionally a username and profile picture (via Google OAuth or email/password sign-up).
  • Content you submit: work submissions, roast feedback, and votes.
  • Usage data: pages visited, submission view counts, and similar activity used to improve the platform.
  • Billing data: subscription status and customer ID managed by Polar.sh. We do not store card numbers or full payment details.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To operate and improve the platform.
  • To authenticate you and manage your account.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To send transactional emails (password resets, notifications).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting (EU region).
  • Cloudinary — file storage for attachment uploads.
  • Polar.sh — payment processing and subscription management.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Google OAuth — optional social sign-in.

4. Cookies & Sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are set. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Content you submitted (roasts, feedback) may be retained in anonymised form.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Export a copy of your data.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS. We apply server-side CSRF protection and rate limiting on all authenticated endpoints.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.
